Optical Turnstile

Supervisor 500 optical turnstiles provide accurate bi-directional patron counting. The SU500 uses optical sensor arrays and highly evolved software to detect and count people entering or leaving a facility or area. Alvarado’s SU500’s are installed in hundreds of installations worldwide, including riverboat casinos, theme parks and zoos. The SU500 is also used in certain secured applications simply to detect patron passage.

The SU500 can differentiate between people and objects that shouldn’t be counted, such as umbrellas, bags or walkers. The multiple sensors of the SU500 detect the direction of travel, quickly or slowly moving patrons and people bunched together (tailgating). Units can count in a single direction, or in both directions. If set to count in one direction, the SU500 can be set to alarm if travel in the other direction is attempted.

Passage counts can be outputted to local counters installed in the cabinet and/or to Alvarado’s popular, easy-to-use GateWatch counting software.  

Supervisor 500 cabinets can be either fixed installed on portable baseplates. If fixed installed, the center cabinet serves as receiver and transmitter, saving floor space. For permanently installed cabinets, passage spacing of 26” will provide the best performance. Cabinets may be installed with passage widths up to 36” to allow stroller or wheelchair access. Available baseplate dimensions are 22” and 36”. Daisy chain style power and communication ports are provided for portable models.

The highly attractive SU500 comes in a slim stainless steel cabinet with satin finish. Cabinets can also be powdercoated in a variety of colors. SU500’s can be installed outdoors, to operate in a covered outdoor environment with the addition of an optional weatherization package.

SU2000 turnstiles allow a single passage when a valid credential is presented. If passage is attempted without the presentation of a valid credential, an alarm sounds and visual notification is provided. Additional notification outputs are also provided, allowing integration with remote alarms, door locks, CCTV or other devices.

The SU2000 uses state-of-the-art electronics, including adjustable tailgate sensitivity and alarm duration. The unit automatically resets if a valid credential is presented, but there is no passage through the lane.

The SU2000 is very intuitive for users. Highly visible color LED arrays on the top of the cabinet prompt users to present access credentials and provide guidance during the card validation process.

The SU2000-SM has a small compact footprint which saves floor space, but unless a separate pedestal is used, it only supports the exterior attachment of a small mullion reader. The larger SU2000-MED allows most card readers to be recessed under the lid, has end lights and supports larger LED user arrays.

Both SU2000 models are available in single lane and multi-lane versions. Center cabinets are the same width in all configurations and ADA compliant widths are available. The SU2000-MED has a satin stainless steel cabinet with an acrylic resin lid. The SU2000-SM has a satin stainless steel cabinet with a matching anodized aluminum lid.

Alternate materials/finishes are also available including cabinets constructed from various fine woods and marble or quartz lids.

Designed for bi-directional (card-in/card-out) access control, the SU3000 has an illuminated card reader status display that prompt users for access credentials. Operational modes include normally closed arms, normally open arms, or barrier disabled (optical only) operation. Built-in safety features include obstruction detection and safety sensors linked to arm movement.
